Reports to: Course Instructor, TRN204H1S; The Dean of Arts at ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ.

Compensation: $53.44 (plus 4% vacation & subject to statutory deductions). Approximately 223.5 hours.

Position Summary: ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ is looking to fill the position TRN204H1S: Introduction to Law and Legal Reasoning .
TRN204H1S is a required 2nd year course in the Ethics, Society and Law program.

About the course:

  • Course Code: TRN204H1S: Introduction to Law and Legal Reasoning
    The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, 1 – 3pm.
    Tutorials are Friday 10 – 11am, Friday 11am – 12pm, Friday 1 – 2pm, Friday 2 – 3pm.
  • Enrolment: 100
  • Description: This course introduces students to the study of law and legal reasoning through an examination of the participants, institutions and processes involved in law-making and law-administering. Examples from various fields of law (including tort, criminal, constitutional and international) will be used to explore some of the themes of the course. ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ will examine the organization of the Canadian legal system as well as critically engage with some of more challenging issues facing both the criminal and civil justice system.

Duties: The TA will be required to lead four weekly tutorials, attend weekly lectures, hold office hours, grade assignments (including short writing assignments and exams), respond to student questions by email outside of scheduled office hours, and assist with other duties as determined by the course instructor and program director.

Qualifications: Current doctoral students who have completed at least one year of their program or recent graduates of a doctoral program. Likely programs of study could include law, political science or criminology.

ÑÇÖÞ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ should have strong teaching ability, excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, and must be able to work in a collegial manner with the course instructor.
